Updated February 27, A Victorian football league is being sued over an incident in which a spectator was seriously injured. Michael Keilar, 37, of Warrnambool was watching the Mininera and District Football League's grand final in September when he was injured when a brawl broke out. His lawyer, Creon Coolahan, says Mr Keilar was punched from behind, knocked unconscious and his right leg was fractured. If the case is successful, he believes it could change practices at local football leagues across the state.

The league's administration base is at Sportscover Arena at Elsternwick Park , a former Victorian Football Association stadium in suburban Elsternwick, Victoria , that was home to the now defunct Brighton Football Club.
